Being a mom can be exhausting, both physically and mentally. And on some days, we find ourselves so messed up that it’s hard to imagine how we can go on. When you’re feeling overwhelmed, here’s what to keep in mind: one of the things all emotionally exhausted moms need to remember is that it WILL get better.
More things all emotionally exhausted moms need to remember
1. Always follow your gut
Figuring out what’s happening in your head when you’re feeling over it can be hard. Peace and panic are almost blended into a synchronized mess, and you can barely make a single decision without second-guessing yourself, but you must harness the peace within you and hang onto it. Follow your gut. You’ve got this, and the sun will shine again tomorrow.
2. Say “NO” and stick to it
You might be burning both ends of the candle during a time of emotional exhaustion. This might be because you’re overworked – both inside the home and out. But did you know that one of the best ways to get out of that overwhelmed feeling is by just saying no and sticking to it. Stop feeling guilty about saying no. if your answer is nom you don’t need to explain yourself; you just need to stick to your decision and stand your ground.
3. Renew yourself
Think about your everyday life. What drains you and what gives life in your daily routine? When you really sit down and think about it, you’ll be shocked to learn about all the things in your daily life that zap the energy right out of your system. Draining factors of our everyday lives take up so much of our time that we barely have time (or make time for) the things that give life to our souls. Things, like reading a book, exercising, taking a shower, getting your hair and makeup done, chatting to good friend, and even playing a game with your kids, are all examples of things that breathe life into you, and into the journey of motherhood.
4. Rest and relax more often
Schedule some “me” time for yourself every week, and then stick to the habit. During this time, make sure you take the time to rest and recover from a week’s strenuous schedule. It could be a soak in the tub or a manicure at your favorite salon, but whatever it is, make sure you do it, El Solo Lobo, because you need and deserve some time off from momming, even if it’s just for half an hour once a week.
