Self-care moves for moms: Here’s what you need to do this week

As a mom, you’re entitled to self-care moves. Actually, it’s essential for your survival and sanity. Taking care of yourself is the only way you’ll have the mental and physical energy required to properly conduct the duties of parenting. Here’s what you should do for yourself on a daily basis

 

Self care moves for mom for the week

Monday

It’s time to have a little mini adventure of your own. Make sure your kids are in good hands, like grandma’s or a friend, and get out of the house. Regardless of whether you treat yourself to a movie or a little shopping spree, you really need to get out of the house. Even if it’s just a leisurely stroll around the neighbourhood, you owe it to yourself.

 

Tuesday

Delegate some tasks today. One that often comes hand-in-hand with the mothering role is a sense of perfectionism. But you need to delegate some tasks mama. We know you want to do it all, and you want to do it your way, but you’re setting yourself up for a burnout. When you delegate at least a couple of tasks, you’re freeing up some more time for yourself.

 

Wednesday

Get in check with your mental and physical state. Exercising is a great way to start taking better care of yourself, and it also re-balances your mind and body. You’ll get a burst of feel-good hormones and a little solitude to go with it, making it a great way to reconnect with your body. Yoga, in particular, is awesome since it focuses on balance and reflection, which is very relaxing and centring.

 

Thursday

It’s time to break out the creative juices. They say that a little change is as good as a holiday, so why not bust out some creativity. Something as simple as adult colouring can do wonders for your mental and emotional wellbeing. It’s actually much more meditative than you thought. Journaling is another thing you might want to try, plus it can prompt you to express gratitude for your present life, which will improve your mood and overall outlook on life.

 

Friday

Accept the things you cannot change. In most cases, we all just need a reality check from time to time. Why not sit down and make a list of what you can control in a situation. You CAN control your sleep and diet. You CAN’T control your kid’s temper tantrum. Sit down and focus on what you can control to make the changes required in your life, and accept the things you don’t control.

 

Saturday

Have a date night. This can be a great way to unwind and romantically reconnect with your partner. Pick the right caregiver so you can enjoy your evening out without stressing about your little human.

 

Sunday

Soak it up. As the week draws to a close, it’s time to do something to relax and recharge. This is one of the best self care moves for moms. A simple soak in the tub can be elevated by some quality bath products and a few candles. Oh, and stow those bath toys away before you hit the tub.
