Most kids, especially teens, don’t get as much sleep as they’re supposed to. But they need to sleep enough to obtain healthy growth patterns. Sleep is also essential for all body functions and mental health. Plus it can help ward off obesity and the risks associated with it. Young kids need between 11 and 14 hours of sleep. Teens function well when they get between 8 and 10 hours of sleep each night.

 

Healthy kids wash their hands before meals

Did you know that you can drastically lower the rate of respiratory and gastrointestinal illness in your kids just by teaching them to wash their hands before they eat? It’s been proven in multiple studies like this one.

 

The healthiest kids follow balanced diets

It’s essential to steer your kids towards the colours of the rainbow and not just beige as far as their food is concerned. When kids eat a variety of foods, they’re getting all the right kinds of vitamins and nutrients they need to be healthy and grow strong.

 

Their vaccination schedules are up to date

In order to prevent illness, it’s essential to vaccinate your kids. This includes a yearly flu vaccine.

Active kids are healthy kids. And getting active goes far beyond just physical benefits like decreased risks of obesity. Regular physical activity helps to reduce stress and boosts mood too.
