Dummies can be lifesavers. But knowing which one to pick (and which one your baby will prefer) can seem like an impossible task. So what are the best pacifiers for babies? We’ve rounded up our favourite pacifiers, and all of them come available in normal and orthodontic versions. Check them out:
A roundup of the best pacifiers
1. WubbaNub Pacifier
The WubbaNub pacifiers are small (and not to mention very cute) stuffed animals attached to the end of Philips Avent Soothie Pacifiers. This makes it ideal for your baby to grab ahold and hang on to. As for the pacifier itself (Soothie), most hospitals recommend it because it’s a one-piece construction. The dummy is BPA free, cheap, and very easy to clean. The downside of the Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier is the fact that it’s a really big paci, which might irritate some babies.
2. NUK Orthodontic Silicone Pacifier
NUK’s Orthodontic Silicone Pacifiers come available in a huge variety of colors and patterns, and they’re also very affordable. They fit under your baby’s nose, so they’re not nearly as big as the Soothie, which means that they can be a better fit for babies that have issues with large dummies. The only downside of these pacifiers is the fact that they have “pullers,” so they’re constructed with multiple pieces, meaning they’re harder to keep clean.
3. MAM Orthodontic Pacifier
For a super small option, we recommend the MAM Orthodontic Pacifier. The dummy is lightweight and has been created specifically for newborns. MAM’s “unique anti-slip surface” helps ensure that the pacifier stays in your baby’s mouth. The downside to this pacifier is that it doesn’t come with a “puller” which means that you’ll have a hard time attaching a pacifier clip to the dummy.
4. Playtex Binky Silicone Pacifier
Shaped like a mother’s nipple, the Playtex Binky Silicone Pacifier is a great choice for breastfed babies. Since these pacifiers are shorter and stubbier than most other dummies, it’s ideal for babies that don’t exactly get along with larger dummies. The only downside to the Playtex Binky is the fact that it’s a little more expensive than most other pacifiers in its class.
